Six UK businesses appear as ransomware victims in the past 48 hours, the highest single-window UK count in recent weeks. ShadowByt3$ simultaneously hit Knottingham Trent University and A-Plus Software Limited, suggesting a deliberate campaign targeting IP-rich UK organisations. AiLock claimed Morgan Services (professional services), and thegentlemen listed a UK hospitality firm.

The July water systems story is the week's most significant CNI development: over 100 water treatment facilities compromised in a single month. While UK systems are not confirmed among those affected, UK water operators should treat this as a direct prompt to review OT and ICS security posture, network segmentation, and incident response readiness.

The FBI's seizure of Chinese hacking infrastructure — targeting NASA, DOE, and the US Senate — is directly relevant to UK defenders. The tooling and TTPs used by Chinese state actors cross-apply to UK CNI and government networks. NCSC's standing guidance on responding to Chinese state threats remains the key reference point.
